Remote guarding

Remote guarding is a security service in which a monitoring center watches a site through its cameras and responds to what it sees, typically with a voice warning, a call to the site or a dispatch. It is sold as an alternative to a guard on site, priced per site or per camera per month.

The service combines three things: cameras that are watched, a rule for what counts as an event, and a response when one happens. Detections and scheduled rounds supply the events; operators supply the judgment and the response.

For a guarding company, remote guarding is a service line on the cameras a client already owns. The margin comes from covering many sites with few people, which is why the automated part matters: what software checks and files, an operator does not have to watch.

On Camzify the automated part is virtual patrolling plus the detections on the same cameras. The monitoring center or agency keeps the response, the client relationship and the price it charges.

It is priced per camera per month by most providers, set by the hours covered, the response included and whether cameras are bundled. The remote guarding cost guide sets out the drivers without quoting a figure.

It replaces the routine watching and the round. A response still needs a person, so most sites keep a smaller on-site or mobile presence for what is raised.
