Video verification
Video verification is the practice of checking an alarm signal against the video from the cameras covering the area before deciding on a response. A verified alarm is dispatched with confidence; an unverified one, such as a pet or a door blown open, is closed without a callout.
The value is on both sides. Police and keyholders attend verified alarms faster and treat them more seriously, and the monitoring center stops paying for callouts that turn out to be nothing.
Verification can be a clip sent with the alarm, a live view the operator opens, or a snapshot captured at the moment the signal arrived. Detections on the same cameras add a second signal: a confirmed person in a zone beside a triggered sensor is a stronger case than either alone.
