Connect Lorex cameras to Camzify

Lorex recorders and cameras that offer RTSP connect to Camzify over it, so the cameras already installed can run AI detections, virtual patrol rounds and cloud recording without being replaced. Lorex says third-party RTSP streaming is available on certain models of its DVRs, NVRs and IP cameras, and the address depends on the series. The formats below are from Lorex's own manuals, so check which series your recorder belongs to.

Lorex RTSP URL format

As Lorex’s own documentation gives it. Replace the parts in angle brackets with the camera’s values.

Lorex NVR or DVR (NR810 and DV800 series manuals)
rtsp://<username>:<password>@<recorder-ip>:<port>/cam/realmonitor?channel=<channel>&subtype=<stream>

subtype=0 is the main stream and subtype=1 the sub stream; 554 is the default RTSP port.

Lorex LNK7000 series NVR
rtsp://<recorder-ip>:<port>/ch<channel>/<stream>

Channel as two digits (01 for channel 1); stream 0 is the main stream, 1 the sub stream and 2 the mobile stream, which must be enabled before it can be used.

Turning on RTSP and ONVIF on a Lorex camera

On the LNK7000 series, RTSP is switched on in the recorder: under Settings, click Network, open the RTSP tab, set RTSP Enable and Verify to Enable, change the RTSP port there if needed, and save.

Lorex's help for its X Series X5 4K PoE bullet camera states that the camera supports ONVIF and RTSP, while recommending a Lorex NVR for full feature support.

Can a Lorex camera push RTMP?

Lorex's documentation, as checked for this page, does not describe pushing RTMP from its cameras. Use RTSP instead; if a site needs a push, an encoder can convert the RTSP stream, as the RTMP setup guide explains. RTMP setup in Camzify.

Worth knowing before you connect

  • Lorex's manuals note that viewing the RTSP stream over the internet needs the RTSP port forwarded on the router. With Camzify, cameras on a local network can use the Connector instead, with no port forwarding.
  • Lorex says it cannot provide support for third-party software, so RTSP questions go to the receiving software's vendor.

Adding the Lorex stream to Camzify

  1. 1

    Check the stream plays

Open the RTSP URL above in a player such as VLC. If it plays from outside the camera’s network, Camzify can connect it directly.

  2. 2

    Local only? Use the Connector

If the camera is only on the local network, the Camzify Connector on a Windows, macOS or Linux machine there relays it, with no port forwarding.

  3. 3

    Add it in the console

Camera Management → Add Camera, paste the URL (or pick the relayed stream) and enter the camera’s credentials. The RTSP setup guide has the detail.

What runs on Lorex cameras once they are connected

Once the stream is in Camzify, a Lorex camera is treated exactly like any other: the brand decides nothing about which features it can use.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the series. Lorex's NR810 and DV800 manuals give rtsp://<username>:<password>@<recorder-ip>:<port>/cam/realmonitor?channel=<channel>&subtype=<stream>; the LNK7000 series uses rtsp://<recorder-ip>:<port>/ch<channel>/<stream>.

Settings > Network > RTSP tab: set RTSP Enable and Verify to Enable, and save.

Some do: Lorex states that its X Series X5 4K PoE bullet camera supports ONVIF and RTSP. Check the model's own documentation for others.

Yes, on any Lorex camera or recorder channel that offers an RTSP stream. Camzify then runs virtual patrol rounds, its AI detections and cloud recording on it like any other camera.
