Cloud video backup

Cloud video backup is the recording of camera footage to storage outside the building as it is captured, so that a stolen, smashed or failed recorder on site takes no evidence with it. It can run beside a recorder or replace it, and the footage is kept under a retention window set per camera.

The case for it is the DVR under the desk. Thieves take it, floods reach it, disks fail, and in each case the footage of the event is on the device that is gone. Footage written off site as it is captured survives all of them.

Backup can be continuous or on a schedule per camera, and a schedule can be applied to a whole site. Retention is set per camera in days or as a storage cap, and playback, comparison and export happen in the same console.

On Camzify cloud backup is the recording layer of the cloud video surveillance service, sold per terabyte per month, with the recorder on site optional.

Frequently asked questions

No. Camzify records from the camera stream, not from the recorder, so the recorder carries on. A recorder that publishes RTSP can even be the source the cloud records from.

It stays on the recorder. Cloud backup covers what is captured from the moment it is switched on.
