Remote video response(RVR)
Remote video response, or RVR, is video-based verification and response to an alarm or a camera-detected event, carried out by an operator at an accredited remote video response centre, or RVRC. It is reactive by design: an event triggers the check, rather than the check happening on a schedule.
When a signal or a detection reaches an RVRC, an operator pulls up the relevant camera, judges what it shows and decides on a response, from resetting a false alarm to escalating to the police or a guard. SSAIB runs a named accreditation scheme for RVRCs, and NSI covers the same ground under its own grading.
RVR is easy to confuse with a scheduled patrol round, and the two solve different problems. RVR answers a specific alarm or event as it happens; a scheduled round checks a fixed list of cameras against a checklist at set times, whether or not anything has triggered, and files a report either way.
Many sites use both. Camzify's scheduled rounds and AI detections run on a set schedule and a notification window, and the person or monitoring company they alert can be the same one running an RVR service for that site's alarms.
Camzify does not itself operate as an RVRC. It is the software a monitoring company can run alongside its RVR service, providing the scheduled side of camera coverage that a reactive, event-only service does not.
