PTZ camera(PTZ)
A PTZ camera is one that can pan, tilt and zoom on command, either by an operator or on a preset tour, so a single camera can cover a wide area and look closely at part of it. A fixed camera sees one framing all the time; a PTZ sees only where it is pointed.
PTZ cameras suit large open sites and live operation: a yard, a car park, a perimeter an operator wants to follow something along. Presets let a camera return to a known framing, and tours cycle through them.
Their weakness is the same as their strength. While it is zoomed on one corner it is blind to the rest, and a detection rule drawn on one framing is meaningless in another. For continuous detection a fixed camera on each area is more reliable.
Camzify supports PTZ control through the Connector for cameras on a local network, and treats a PTZ camera like any other for recording and for the patrol round at its preset framing.
